The ABM PATENT AND TRADE-MARK AGENCY was founded in Pisa in May 1996.
This decision was a response to a growing demand in Italy from small, medium and large-sized companies, as well as form various research institutes in Tuscany, for consultancy specialised in the field of intellectual property rights/ownership.
The activity of ABM is aimed at obtaining and protecting property rights connected to technological innovation, opere dell’ingegno and the distinctive and original/individualizzanti aspects of companies, as well as carrying out all those activities related to this. ABM works not only in Italy but also in 80 other countries.
ABM, after having carried out an analysis on the discovery to be patented or on the trademark to be registered gives an initial opinion regarding the effective protection that can be obtained. If necessary, preliminary anteriority and availability research is carried out, both using specific data-basis as well as through specialised foreign contacts at various national patent offices. Following this an application is filed of exclusive property rights at the relevant office, both national and international, e viene seguito il loro iter fino al rilascio.
Whenever companies initiate new productions, even those which are not innovative, or if they need to be updated regarding the ownership of exclusive rights of the competition, ABM can carry out checks on the existence of patent in the same sector or of the same or similar trade-marks, as well as carrying out periodic inspections/checks/overseeing.
In order to manage and make the most of the clients rights, and moreover, when it is possible and necessary, oppositions are presented, legal action brought against and/ intentate cause legali e chiesti provvedimenti cautelari, technical and legal consultancy provided, predisposti contratti per l'acquisto o la cessione di marchi o brevetti e per la concessione di licenze, etc.
ABM also follows/oversees companies passively involved in cases of legal action for falsification of patents and trademarks.
The aim of ABM is, therefore, to help Italian companies who invest in research and who, as such, are able to launch new innovative products onto the market to protect their own investments and to opportunely defend themselves from competition from other companies in more advanced countries, where the protection of industrial property is known and utilised better.
