1st July 2008: also an application for an Italian patent requires anteriority research

As such starting from the 1st January 2010 our clients will be delivered with deadline information managed by us from the company ABM Patent and Trade-mark Agency S.r.l.

Finally, also an application for an Italian patent will be subject to anteriority research with the resulting issuing of the rapporto di ricerca.
The Italian Office for Patents and Trademarks has, indeed, stipulated an agreement with the European Organization of patents, so that the EPO can carry out on behalf of the UIBM anteriority research on discoveries/trovati for which a patent application is being made in Italy starting form the 1st July 2008.
This further activity, which puts Italy in line with many other European countries, will not lead to an increase in fees in favour of the Office, but will require the applicant to deposit a translation of the claims also in English.
